Some
facts that differentiates Organic Honey
• The honey that is collected by the beekeeper should be from
spontaneous vegetation. It is forbidden to put the beehives
close to farmlands where chemicals are used or other places
that has the risk of infection.
• Usage of chemical substances or drugs is forbidden as preventive
care. Therefore organic honey does not contain antibiotics
or any other pesticides.
• It is not allowed to feed the bees with artifical sources
like sugar during nectar flow.
• The beekeepers honey who has not obeyed the rules can not
be sold or traded as organic.
• Crystallization is a natural phase for all types of honey.
However the packers in general utilizes high temparatures
and filitration techniques to achive long shelve life and
delay crystallization. An upper limit of 35 º C is not exceeded
in all stages of processing of organic honey. This maintains
to keep all the useful vitamins and enzymes and not to deteriote
with heat. So the health value of honey is kept.
